This is a Common Galinulle. Quite a sight with that dark body and bright red beak with the tiny yelow tip. This was a new bird for me, I had to look him up. In spite of the way they look in the water, these guys are not related to ducks... they are more like a Coot. They have rather long legs and unwebbed feet.
