This is Osprey Pond. There's also Ibis Pond and Wood Stork Pond. I never did see any of the named birds at any of their respective ponds... maybe there's a lesson there, or perhaps it is just one of life's ironies that one should not waste a lot of time pondering. Truth be told, it was pretty quiet all over the island, which I thought peculiar as all the signs said that most of the birds were year-round residents. After walking about five miles, I only saw the birds in the previous photographs, plus a Snowy Egret, a Turkey Vulture and a few songbirds. I was having a great time but was also a bit discouraged... I had hoped to see some storks and ibis, perhaps a few raptors. It was starting to occur to me that there had actually been more birds back at the Disney Resort. Finally, around eleven I started heading back to the parking lot... |
