The 14th Street bridge is home to at least several hundred swallows. Apparently they have deserted most of the 13th street nests and are living here now. I did not see a single English Sparrow at this bridge so perhaps the swallows are numerous enough here to drive them off. This and the following shots were taken from the middle of the bridge shooting down at the water. As the birds approached their nests under the overhang of the bridge I would try to track them as best I could to give the camera time to focus. It is very seldom that one of these birds will stay in frame for more than two seconds, so that's about how much time you have to compose the shot while the camera is (hopefully) locking down the focus.
