Up HIlton Head Island - Pinckney Island, November 26-30, 2007 Prev Next Slideshow

Finally, on Tuesday night when we were coming back from dinner, the Night Heron was back, parked in the same very spot on the bridge. Fortunately, it was quite late and there was no traffic so I stopped the van in the middle of the bridge. I took one shot thru the windshield (just in case), then slowly opened the door and took a longer exposure braced on the hood of the van. No luck... too blurry. So I got out the flash and shot a few more exposures which came out much better. The Heron did not seem to be botherd by the fuss, in fact when we started moving again he stayed put until the nose of the van was almost even with him, then flew off when we were nearly close enough to touch him.
